My wife and I are retired and are considering a move to Lexington to be near family. We are mainly looking in Woodford County for a newer home on a large lot in the $225,000 price range. Is anyone familiar with Rose Ridge subdivision? We have lived in Lexington before, so we are no strangers to the area.

I'm not familiar with the Rose Ridge subdivision in Versailles, which is strange...because I grew up there. However, I don't think $225,000 will get you very far in Versailles. Woodford County has one of the highest real estate costs in Kentucky (if not the highest) due to the extremely desirable farm land and it's proximity to Lexington while still keeping it's small town feel. A $225,000 will probably get you a fairly nice house or a large lot, but not both. I'm not sure where you live now, so your definition of a large lot may differ from mine (since I grew up on a farm). However, most of the lots in Versailles are much larger than what I've seen in other various places.

If Rose Ridge doesn't turn out well for you, I'd recommend Stonegate or Stourbridge - the houses aren't brand new, but they're nice. The Colony is probably the largest subdivision in town and easily accessable because of the bypass - but it's extremely close to the new middle school and some of the newer houses are on smaller lots.
