How is crime around this area? Right between Allentown and Bethlehem in Salisbury Township, I guess it's considered more SE Allentown?

Default Need to worry about bears more than crime

This summer a bear invaded that part of allentown. A 200 pound one year old bear came out of the woods and was running around on the city streets. The Game control didn't catch it, but it ran back into the woods.

1) Do not look the bear in the eye.
2) Never turn your back to a bear; if safe to do so, slowly walk backwards.
3) Don't lay down and stare at the ground.
4) Pick up small children, (so they do not run, scream or panic).
5) Talk calmly and quietly so the bear can identify you as a human. Bears do not have the best eyesight.
6) Very slowly move your arms out so as to appear bigger.
7) If a bear charges then stand your ground and hold as still as possible without making eye contact. Don’t even take half a step backwards. Most of the times a charging bear will veer off.

You can't outrun a bear, and if you run you are going to trigger his predator instincts.

This map may help: Allentown, PA Crime Map - Showing Crimes in Allentown

Make sure to type in Allentown, PA. Apparently East Montgomery Street is a bad place in San Francisco, CA!

E Montgomery St is pretty safe in my opinion, it's also right by Salisbury High School. Traffic when school starts/ends each day may be something to consider.

I've lived in that neighborhood while raising my children and worked on Montgomery st for many years and the neighborhood was safe, but not to the point of "I can even keep my doors unlocked" safe. It is convenient to shopping, fast food, groceries, american diners, italian and chinese buffets and delivery. The schools are a different story unless you move nearer to the salisbury township line you are asking for trouble. The area is generally on the quiet side with a low level rate of crime

I forgot I made this post, thanks for the info.

The surrounding houses seem to be very nice, the cars around the area are nice, and it's quiet from the times I've been there. I did a little comparison of crime data with areas I'm familiar with, it's much better than the East Chew Street area I almost bought a few months ago.

I currently live in Wind Gap. I know it doesn't compare to that, but most of the rates are lower than the national average according to this:

Nice, Wind Gap. I live between Wind Gap and Pen Argyl! Plainfield Township, it's considered.

I was born in Allentown, on 2nd street. My family moved because my Mom didn't want us three kids going to the school district down there. West Allen would have been the school -- and I had a sub from there, and weekly, he hears about gun fire and fights in that school. I had a job in Allentown and my employer said 2nd street was the worse street in the city, and I believe it.

It's much more calm in Wind Gap. I was also in the Wind Gap fire company, and it is not as busy as Allentown.
