After some searching, I did find a way to compare your city. The cost of living in Vegas will be higher than your city, so be aware of this:

Don't let that comparison scare you. I can tell you how to live very cheaply here without sacrificing your lifestyle. The main concern is employment, not cost of living. If you can get a job, even at minimum wage, you can live decently here.

You cannot live that cheap unless your renting a room from somebody and thats another crapshoot. Rent starts at $550 for a decent studio apartment.

Do you rent an apartment, and if so in what area. That's darned frugal and I commend you for making it on that amount of money. I'm impressed.

Ok, I will give you a recap of how I live frugally. First off, the major expense is housing. I have found you can live much better and cheaper by finding a roommate situation, instead of getting your own place. Here is a source for that:

las vegas rooms & shares classifieds - craigslist

It really is not that hard to find a good roommate. Now that we have that covered, I will show my expenses:

Rent: I pay $450 a month to share a nice , gated condo 2 miles east of the strip. This includes all utilities, Digital Cable and Cox internet.

Food, gas, beer, etc: $320 a month. I set a budget of $10 a day which covers all this. I spend the other $10 a week on gas.

Car insurance: $38 a month. I drive an old Ford Escort which I paid cash for, and only need liability insurance.

Internet for work: $30 via Clear internet. This really is a luxury that I do not need. However, I am a security guard who works overnights alone in an office building all night, and I get bored, so I use this to pass the time.

If you add this all up, it comes to $838 a month. Not bad for a single 34 year old male I might add.
