Hey anyone know what happened to this golf course? Their website is down and the phone is not working. They are no longer part of Walters Golf and are listed as temporarily closed on a couple of the tee time sites. Did they go private or out of business or something? I thought it was one of the best courses in Las Vegas.

maybe they finally did go out of business? I know Pulte wanted to build more homes, maybe they got what they wanted and was able to buy up the whole course?

Got foreclosed. Lots of discussion about T&Cs but foreclosed and no longer operational. I would however suspect that, at this point in the cycle, It ain't good for anything but a golf course so it will likely reopen.

They might just shut it down and let it revert to desert....but that is likely to violate some municipal codes or property covenants..

We shall see.

That is too sad it was a great place to play and one of the cheapest places as well. I guess that is why they went under.

Olecapt is correct. It is mentioned in yesterday's paper on how courses are hurting for business and they have lowered the greens fees for the locals. This helps some, but they need to lower the prices for the tourists who perceive that Vegas golf is way overpriced compared to other markets.

We just moved out of a rental there, and they are indeed watering the course and turning it green, as well as doing maintenance, so I'm guessing they are planning to reopen.

Courses are closing all over. Lake Las Vegas has a course closing too. I think it is the Falls that is closing. mod cut: was telling me about a condos in the Black Horse complex that are listed for 45k to 69k that used to sell for 140k. The Black Horse complex has a side the faces the stallion mountain golf course too.

That's insane. I checked the green fees and have pretty much decided to leave the sticks at home. Too bad because I love to play golf in Vegas. I had changed my mind and decided to lay by the pool instead but the weather has been too cold for that. I guess it's off to play black Jack instead.

The Falls has already closed. There was an article in yesterday's R-J on how the courses lowered the rates [color="Red"]for the locals.I just shook my head at this one because the hotels have lowered their rates to get the tourists back to town and the courses think they can still command high rates for average courses.

Yeah I think the real estate boom made it difficult for Golf courses to continue to operate in that their Tax rates go up with all of the building. What communities don't realize is that Golf courses are big cash cows for taxes. They should give them special rates so they can keep costs low in order to attract more people. Instead they have to raise their fees to meet the tax demand from the communities. Most owners saw an opportunity and sold the land for housing because the property became more attractive and proffitable for development. Now that the housing bubble has burst their tax rates remain high so no one gets a break. Membership falls off as a result so it becomes a vicious cycle until the course goes into bankruptcy. If it continues they will suffer more because people like me will stop bringing their sticks to town. I already have to cut back on my gambling because it's hard to find a $5 blackjack table on the strip. I'm not a big gambler but a big golfer and don't mind putting out the money but $225 for a round of golf is rediculous. I would rather go see Red Rock Canyon or the Dam again than pay that much.
