Although I truly respect your opinion, I have to disagree with you. Vegas is and always has been zero tolerance for underage drinking, underage gambling, curfew violations especially down on the strip, and most of all zero tolerance towards drugs regardless of age. Authorities in many cities along the west coast will turn a blind eye if you get caught with small amounts of "soft" drugs such as marijuana. Until recently even a seed or paraphanelia would land you in jail in Vegas. Like I mentioned previously, one only needs to look at the presedential election to see that they hype surrounding small towns is BS (Palin's small hometown has multiple meth labs and teenage pregnancies). Although alcohol, sex, and gambling may be accepted out here FOR ADULTS, it never has been for minors.

On another note I keep seeing posts regarding hookers and in all honesty it's getting tired. Go on any other city's craiglist and look in the erotic services section. Hookers are everywhere and will continue to be. Again I bring up the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of LA and the porn capital of the US. Amidst the track homes are film sets in other homes. At least our hookers stick to the designated area.

Sex, drugs, alcohol, it is everywhere accepted or not. I actually think that I have an advantage raising my child here, as I can teach him about the real world with regards to these types of things and make him aware about the ramifications of his actions, i.e "See that guy with the cardboard sign? If you don't want to end up like him you need to stay in school and stay away from drugs, alcohol, and gambling", etc. As opposed to someplace like Utah or Idaho where, although the same things exist, they keep it hidden and in effect (in my opinion anway) make these vices that much more tempting (curiosity killed the cat).

Good post! LOL! You knew you were going to get some good comments on this one!

I agree with Daddys///M3 about the zero tolerance. But...after they turn 21 and they are adults (young ones with no real brains yet) they do have opportunities 24/7, whereas in other cities you can continue to party (and they do, trust me)but not in a bar or any other business-legally.

So, in MI if my son gets off work at 2 am, he will not be able to belly up to the bar. Or buy alcohol until I think it is 7 am. Doesn't mean he won't drink or do any number of other mind altering things-he just has to be a little more imaginative. (and with him I lucked out because he does not drink or do drugs)

That's about the only difference, I see.

I wasnt saying that its acceptable for children to be doing that stuff here but its alittle more accessible than a comparable sized city

Not sure that is so true. People assume that because of the "Sin" part.

When my son started HS and this was in a great school district, he was stunned that you could get whatever drug you wanted. And plenty of it. And the kids did. Now, mind you, I never saw any drug activity going on and I worked in the schools. So, if you are not looking or working directly in the field of searching for it, they know how to disguise it. So all looked to be just so. I think the Strip puts it all out there-so people just assume the worst.

I think if they are eager to try it or they have peers pressuring them, it does not matter the size or location of the place.

Unfortunately.
