I simply cannot believe the prices in the nail salons here. I'm from New York and compared to that HUGE city this is bananas. I'm not talking about a small jump either; a manicure in NY 6-8 dollars - here starting at 12. Pedicure in NY 12 dollars - here 25. WOW! AMAZING! Thank goodness almost everything else is cheaper though, so it evens out.

Yeah...I go to Red Rock Nails on Charleston & Town Center.
Similar prices (but I don't get acryllics, so my total tends to run cheaper).
Cosmetic-related things
are a bit pricier out here (when compared to other cities), but like you said, everything else is cheaper, so it evens out.

Yes, Roger your wife must wear "fake nails" because just getting a manicure is only $12-15 here in Las Vegas. Femme, I feel you with the NYC thing and the eyebrows. I actually thought I was on "candid camera" for a minute every time I walked into a nail salon here. Can't wait to see what in the world is happening with the hair salons, only found one Dominican salon so far.

I find it hard to believe that you can get your nails done in NY for $6-$8. The hair salons here charge about $45 for a pedicure. I don't know what they charge for nails but I've heard people complain for years about it being in the $40.00 range. But the squeeze is on by the Vietnamese nail salons all over town. Here's the reason for all the Asians in that business now. It also explains all the Korean dry cleaners, Cambodian donut shops, and Indian motels.
