I'm sure a lot of people did. On the other hand, many don't want a politician telling them how much soda they are allowed drink or how much salt they should consume.

Lots to dislike about Adelson, yet he did continue to pay all his employees at the Venetian/Palazzo during 2020, unlike many others around Las Vegas. He did do a bit of good there at the end - possibly because he finally reconciled with his own mortality. Can't take it with you.

I’m sure his wife is glad about that.

She's likely not long for this world, either.

But you can make it do what it did while you're alive.

We'll have to see, but I'm thinking Adelson's wife is nowhere near as fanatical as Adelson was. <shrugs>

He could have endowed organizations independent of his wife to sustain his political activities.

His wife has close to zero interest in the Sands business. Rob Goldstein has basically been Sheldon for the past 3-4 years. She'll probably be like Bezos' ex and just give much of it away after the shares are sold off. Much like Wynn this is now just a corporation running a business for the benefit of shareholders and not a cult of personality with all hopes behind the founder.
