I am doing a summer internship in Las Vegas this summer on the strip at one of the best hotels! I am very excited. I've been hearing a lot of good & bad things about the area. I am living there either way b/c the opportunity is amazing. Can anyone give me some feedback on short-term rentals I am thinking about living at one of the Camden Apartments. Maybe Oasis Ridge?? They gave me a quote of $556 is this good for the area?? Is this a good area they say it is close to UNLV & there is a lot of college students in the area. Any advice or recommendations would be great! Thanks

UNLV area not very safe
Collegegirl:not very safe. You'd be better off & safer in an apt/rental house further away from the Strip - possibly in Henderson or the NW area of LV. There are LOTS of rentals available here - the investors who were buying property like crazy the past couple of years are now begging for tenants. I'd suggest you contact HR at the Strip property where you'll be interning, and even some Realtors in the area, to get their input re safe areas.

you better off looking for an apt after you move here, because around unlv, there are lot of apts, bad and not bad at all. i've lived in 2 apts around the area, and didnt have a problem. from first glance, the area is kinda bad/old, but dont worry theres thousands students living in that area without a problem. for $550, you'd probably find a studio, one bedrooms starts around 625+. good luck.

the apt you are talking about i think is on Charleston st its full of Mexicans and gangs . you have to realize that the average rent in las Vegas is 900.00 per month so this is where you can Gage on what to expect to pay for a one bedroom . you might want to rent a room from a house owner with a nice house if your on a budget that way you don't have to put your safety at risk living in a bad neighborhood.

I graduated from UNLV and I would agree that the area is not the best. I'd look west of the strip if I were you and go out a bit further. It's worth the drive because it will be much safer.

any apartment in las vegas is unsafe, but the UNLV area depends on which complex you stay at, also, what is wrong with stayin at a complex with lots of mexicans? its the white trash you need to look out for

Why does this have to get racial?
I would advise staying away from the UNLV area. It is not a very safe area. If you are looking to rent, you might want to consider renting a condo from a private owner or property management company. Many times when you live in a condo development, it is much quieter and safer than an apartment complex because most of the residents own their property. Therefore, they tend to take care of the community much more. I have noticed that with many apartments, you will see some sort of trouble happening.
