I find myself choosing the movie I go see based on the availability of parking in the shade. Have already skipped a few playing only at outside parking theaters (Regal Village Square, AMC Town Square).

Las Vegas was recently determined to be the fastest warming city in the nation. That’s something to think about. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rev...s-1648822/amp/
Today we reached 111. I wish the monsoon would get here. I know we had some brief storms yesterday but it’s going to be hot and dry for the next week.

I cannot find 111. Locally and LAS hit 109. That is hot but actually pretty normal for the first half of July.

And with 10% RH the heat inces is around 103.

Where did you get the fastest warming statistic? i have not noticed though it could be true.

From the LV RJ:
"It was back to a normal hot Las Vegas summer in the valley after Friday’s surprise rain, with temperatures peaking at 111 degrees Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The high temperature was reached about 2:35 p.m., marking the hottest day of the year so far, the weather service said." https://www.reviewjournal.com/weathe...-2019-1719796/

I listen to NPR State of Nevada every day and the host did an episode of how LV is the fastest warming city nationally. I found that to be intriguing. Along with Phoenix, Tucson, and El Paso behind LV.
Here is the link along with the audio. Check it out! Would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

what they don't say is it's no where near the record for July - 117F / 47.2C in 2005. not so extreme when you cherry pick data...

In Vegas, temp is set at 76, bedroom down to 74 at night under ceiling fan.

When it gets cold here, we have the heat set at 66-68 at night and 68-70 during the day (we're home most of the time).

Electric bill averaged out is $110/month, gas adds more in winter but not more than another $30 or so.

Power bills in FL (all electric, no gas) were $140/month on budget billing (averaged out over the year).

So, our HVAC cost is about the same.

Don't even ask me about our HVAC bill when we lived in Illinois. Some summer/winter months were $500!

Opinion:
but can you walk down the street when it's 105* degrees outside ?
I'd rather pay the $500 bucks............

Today will be the hottest day of the year for Las Vegas. Our summer this year will be 1 week shorter than it usually is.
