Anyone here know anything about keeping cool during the dog days of summer in an Airstream trailer? I know there are some means to combat the heat, but is it really possible?

Anyone know anything about long term trailer living in Vegas? Extended stay at an RV park? Does this happen when the temps are in the triple digits?

Doesn't it have an air conditioner?

If the trailer is 30' or less, a single roof-mounted air conditioner should be sufficient; longer than that and you may need a second A.C. (or a big shade tree).

Add a second ac over one of the spare roof vents.

I can't think of any way this wouldn't be miserable. And very expensive considering they are not well insulated and it's metal box.

Default Idea!!!

What about some of the parks up on Mt Charleston? Would they provide respite from the heat in the hottest months? Would the daily commute into town be difficult?

OK, strange you should bring this one up. I have a friend who spent the summer in a travel trailer on Mt Charleston. The elevation did make it cooler at night but it was still darn hot all day long. My friend is a musician so she doesn't keep regular hours. No idea about the commute.

I've known of people building essentially a big carport over their trailer to keep the direct sun off. I grew up in single wide- 12' by 60' trailers here with only a swamp cooler but I had no choice. Today I would not even consider it.
