Hi... I am thinking about looking at a home to rent in the above area code with the closest cross streets of E Silverado Ranch & Pollock Drive. Can someone tell me if this is an area worth looking at if... the most important thing to us is safety?
Any other suggestions?
We have 2 young boys so we want somewhere safe first, newer home 2nd and rent last (up to about $1700 a month).
I feel like my head is going to explode with all the info on here. When suggestions like Summerlin, GV, Henderson, etc are mentioned.. can I assume that the entire area is safe, or are there seedy areas within these as well?
Any input is appreciated!

There's definitely seedy areas within Green Valley and Henderson...

Anyways, 89123 is a great place to live, I live in that zip code, the convenience to so much definitely outweighs Henderson, I mean, we will have the first Chick-Fil-A and Dunkin' Donuts in town...We will have a fresh and easy on Silverado Ranch, there's all the great restaurants in front of the outlet mall, a second mall will be built across the street diagonally from the outlets, it should open in 2 months, with a book store and Whole Foods...the overall convenience of the area is great, it takes us 10 minutes to get to Center Strip or Maryland and Twain or even Rancho and Lake Mead, because of the proximity to I 15 and the airport tunnel...

Vegas doesn't have Chick-fil-A's yet? That's a fast-food must have...

Are your kids of school age or soon to be? If so, make sure to check out the Clark County School website: CCSD :: School Websites (http://ccsd.net/schools/schoolWeb.phtml - broken link). From here you can check out the schools, zoning and individual websites.
I recently moved here with my family and I can understand the head exploding thing. We checked out so many different areas, new construction vs. resale, and the plethora of neighborhoods here in Las Vegas. Personally, there is something for everyone here, it just depends on what you like, proximity to work, schools, shopping, price and etc.............. You can PM me if you like.

Great restaurants in front of the outlet mall? I hope you're not talking about Cane's Chicken Fingers, Panda Express and Chipotle.

There is a Outback and a Chili's. Not a 5 star, $100 a plate meal but I wouldnt pass up a free meal from any of them, and I like Chipotle.

I like Chipotle as well, but none of those places would qualify as "great restaurants."

My favorite restaurant in this area is "Sushi-Mon" on Maryland & Silverado Ranch. All you can eat, baby!

There's a nice looking place next to the starbucks on Amigo/Warm Springs that I've been wanting to visit. Has anyone eaten there?
