It mentioned Kidz Bedz on Rainbow which is ironic that they closed, moved 2 doors down then re-opened as Bedz 4 Kidz. Now they are having a store closing sale as well as another store further up Rainbow (forgot the name).

IMO, furniture retailers have taken a beating nationwide with this economy.

Stores closing, particularly furniture stores (and shoes for some strange reason), in order to have a going out of business sale, has always been such a scam, that the legislature passed a law back in the late 1960's or early 70's, that if they advertised a going out of business sale, they had to go out of business. That's when they started requiring a going out of business license. But there is nothing to stop them from having a sale, so they don't have to move the inventory, and then opening up under a new name in a new location. I see them "go out of business", and then move right next door to the old store under a new name. But as I understand it, they can't take any of the sale inventory with them to the new location.

I get a worse feeling walking into a furniture store than I do walking onto a buy here pay here used car lot.

Or they just imply it by saying "everything must go by XXX". No law seems to be enforced when they say that.

That's right, as long as they don't call it a going out of business sale. They can call it a moving sale, and keep the same business license and store name. But people think they get better deals in going out of business sales where they double or triple the regular price, then give you 50% off or something.
