Passing through LC and would love a rec for a good place to eat dinner. Casual/kid friendly.

There is a "sticky" thread devoted to Las Cruces restaurants at the top of the Las Cruces forum.

I don't know of a restaurant that isn't casual AND kid friendly. One of the more upscale and popular is "Si Senor" on E. Lohman. There are a number of other Mexican restaurants just west on Lohman.

Si Senor is fine. For a "passing thru" meal with kids I'd also suggest La Posta in Mesilla. They're hands down the "atmosphere" choice, both for the restaurant and their location in Mesilla, but though I've been a vocal critic of La Posta food in the past their chow has improved significantly in the past year.
You'll get an Old New Mexico experience from a stop in Old Mesilla.
