Good morning, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the houses and area around the Johnson City Country Club? Is it a safe area? Thank you so much for your input. Have a great day.

Well......there is an apartment complex just a block away that is notorious as a very bad place. There are the housing projects 2 blocks away. It is basically in a bad area.
Sorry to disappoint, but I would never live there myself let alone have my children live in that area.

Thanks Mb. I appreciate the fact that you are honest about it.

Yep, Unaka and Wautaga east of Carnegie/I-26 aren't really great streets to live on, nor their surrounds. You'd probably always be safe, as this is a generally safe city, but there are much better places to live very close by (consider the fact that it takes only 5-7 minutes to get to the mall from the Specialty Hospital and you'll see how close together poverty and money live in JC).

Johnson City by way of being so old has a number of rather decrepit neighboorhoods spread out over the city. Some of the older areas are okay and others pretty risky especially at night if you're out by yourself whether you're a minority or not.

Hi all...and a big thanks to mb for being so helpful throughout everything I've read. This is my first post on this terrific forum. Back to the JC Country Club---I'm a bit confused and concerned; I know that "bad" areas exist almost anywhere these days but am I to understand that just going to the country club may be a risk? What kind of people and what kind of problems might one encounter?

I'm really not a "country club" type of guy but if it's a risky area around it, I'm a bit surprised also.

Finally, to any golfers out there, can you tell me anything about the course? Thank you.
