Default What To Do !!!

Lets see, if you enjoy boating or camping etc. there are several lakes most noteably Lake Rathbun and Lake Redrock.

Des Moines has several interesting attractions, The Science Center, The State Fair.
I guess that living here I just know where to go and when to go to find interesting things to do.
One would be hard pressed to find nicer people anywhere.
If you enjoy hiking in secluded woods there are plenty to get lost in here.

A lot of "what there is to do" depends on the outlook of the "doer", if you enjoy scenery and simple experiences you will find plenty to do, if you are one who feels you have to be entertained, you probably ought to look elsewhere.

:P

I forgot all about this. I got an email today telling me there was a reply.

Well I DID move back to Iowa and I'm glad I did.

I'm not making as much money... but I'm also not spending as much and I'm having a lot more fun with my work here then I was in California. I don't feel half as rushed as I always did. It's nice to be able to slow down.

Iowa has lots of small towns with hidden treasures. For example, check out Coonrapidsiowa.info and farmresort.com. The state govt also maintains an event calendar and publishes an event guide. Find links on the Iowa.gov website.

There is nothing to really do in Iowa unless you like to sit around and watch the cars rust. Most of the towns do have some sort of celebration just to entertain the locals.

The town I grew up in- Remsen, IA- has a celebration of Oktoberfest. Basically it's celebrating the German and Luxemboug heritage in Remsen. But it's just an excuse for a bunch of people to get drunk. There's more beer in that town then the whole Budweiser brewery!

The town does have some interesting heritage though. Many bootleggers (including my grandfather) made alcohol and transported in to major cities like Chicago back in the 20's and 30's. The town, at one point, had 33 seperate bars- no lie!

Oh, for Pete's sake. Get a life. Find a hobby. Have some interests. Read a book. Entertaining you is your job.
