Hi all,
I will be working for a company on a project in Marion, IN for 8 month starting this September. I visited there a couple of months ago and it didn't really seem like there was much to do. Is Kokomo much different than Marion? I wouldn't mind having to drive 40ish minuted everyday but is it worth it to live in Kokomo and communte in your opinion? Or just stay in Marion and save the gas?

I'd stay in Marion and save the gas.

Marion is a dying town. Nothing to do. Kokomo is boring and full of its own problems in my opinion. I'd hate to live in either place.
How about living in Huntington, it is squarely in between Marion and Fort Wayne. Drive to work to Marion and play in Fort Wayne and live in a nice quiet town of Huntington.

Marion has long been economically depressed...some attempts to revitalize in the past few years have been nipped in the bud by the economy. Kokomo was doing fine until recently, but it is purely a factory town, and with Chrysler downsizing, Kokomo has been hit hard. I believe unemployment rates there recently topped Elkhart's (formerly the winner in Indiana for unemployment); it may be close to 20%. The future for Kokomo looks rocky unless it diversifies its economy. Otherwise it could become another Marion.
