I work on Barker Cypress and would like to move to an apartment complex with easy access to I-10.

Being that I want to be south of I-10 and in between my work and downtown, I'm considering the Memorial area. In terms of safety, how does that area rate? What about Westchase or Briarforest/Eldridge?

Can anyone give me any recommendations on good apartment complexes? I have a budget of about $800/month for a 1 Bedroom, but of course the cheaper the better.

Hopefully someone can give me a bit of input!! I'd really appreciate it!

The ones on Eldridge are very nice. Not sure of rents in the area, I know they are getting pretty steap for 2 bedrooms. One complex is getting rave reviews. It's on Eldridge just south of I-10 , Broadstone??? Not sure of the name. Great.booming area. You may want to check the new apartments in CITYCENTRE. I'm pretty impressed with the development. I-10 and the Beltway.

I've put up new employees, temporarily while they are looking for housing, at The Alexan at Memorial Bend (I-10 and the Beltway again) and they have been happy with it. But it was in the 1200 range for a two bedroom.

Edit: The Marquis on Memorial might be in your price range though. There's a newer Marquis on Eldridge as well.

There's some nice ones on Eldridge, but also, look into condo rental. Hudson on Memorial, Georgetown (I live here), The Pines, etc...all good condos in the Memorial area where you can find a one bedroom anywhere from $600-900...and you get nice neighbors that are mostly homeowners.

Do a search "For Lease" on HAR for MLS area 23-Memorial. Also drive around the area--many owners don't put their lease listing on MLS, they'll put a sign in a window of the unit, or they'll put a notice on the community's bulletin board.

Not sure if you will find anything in the memorial area for $800 a month.

I currently live in the Alexan at Bunker hill and I can tell you a 1/1 apartment is easily $1,000 a month. You can try the Alexan at Silber also, although that is further east. http://www.alexanbunkerhill.com/ , http://www.alexansilber.com/. They are both right off I-10 and are very nice. BH is ~3 years old and Silber is less than a year old but the elegance comes at a price.

My roommate used to live at some moderately priced "townhouse" style apartments off Dairy Ashford. I believe they were called Memorial Ashford Townhouses. He had a decent 2/2 for roughly $900 so they may have what you are looking for. It is close to Barker Cypress.
