May he Rest In Peace. For a while that guy was utterly dominant on the mound.

It was sad that his career was cut short at such a young age.

I get the feeling J.R. Richard was pretty much forgotten. I checked Yahoo! Sports and ESPN. No mention of his death.

May he rest in peace. J.R. is a legend in Houston.

I agree with you that the news is not making headlines. I checked the HoustonChronicle.com website and there is no mention of his death - LAZY Astros beat reporters... it's a shame really.

J.R., in his prime, was the equal of Nolan Ryan.

There are several mentions on Twitter.

Thank you for letting us know.

Except when Nolan Ryan complained to the team about his arm, he wasn't called lazy or a malingerer. J.R. was held to a different standard. Pretty obvious as to why.

I saw some of his pitching videos. It makes me wonder what might have been had he not gotten a stroke. He was a great pitcher nontheless.

I checked MLB.com. Nothing on that site about his death. I heard about his death on facebook. I wonder if some people don't care because of the whole Astros scandal (Richard was long-retired when that took place).

This is true as well. J.R. Richard's health wasn't exactly tended to the same way Nolan Ryan's was.
