Ive been shopping around near kingwoods/springs/woodlands and have been told buy sales agent that house prices are going up and buying soon is recommended. I thought house prices are supposed to decrease during the winter no?

Do you expect the sales agents to recommend you not to buy?

I'd be surprised if housing prices were going up anytime soon in Houston metro.

Exactly. And, yes, prices often tend to fall during the off season, but so does the inventory.

Exactly. I wouldn't worry as much about prices going up. But I'd worry about finding the "right" house. I've shopped in the fall (with a December closing) and it was hard to find something we wanted. And we weren't particularly picky either.

My guess is they won't rise until the beginning of the year. December is usually a good month to sign - most builders want to end the year with a good number of contracted houses. I have always noted that the incentives are good that month. November isn't bad, either.
