Hi,

I just bought a new car and need to sell my old car. I wanted to trade the car in, but the dealer offered a ridiculously low value for the car.

Any suggestions on where and how (the steps to transfer title when selling) in Houston.

Thanks in advance.

That's what dealers do. You will have to sell it on your own by owner with ads etc.

Have you tried carmax or texas direct auto? They tend to offer more than the traditional dealerships and they take care of all the paperwork. It might be less than what you get if you private sale but to avoid the hassle of showing your car to strangers and negotiating, it's worth it IMO.

If you sell prefer to sell it yourself, the Texas DPS website has all the forms you need to transfer titles. You will also need a bill of sale which you can google and use the many examples they have online. You can try autotrader or craigslist to list your car for sale.

IQ auto buyers gave us $1000 more than Carmax. You may want to give them a try. Their is always Craigslist or Auto Trader.

Texas Direct Auto is as good as it gets (usually) without the hassle of Craigslist and Ads. You won't get as much from a private sale, but is typically better than Carmax and Dealers. Not all dealers are the same, though.
