In addition to meeting women in bars, you'll want to explore the "mixers" put on by various cultural, civic and political organizations in Houston. Also, you'll be asked to participate in activities related to your child's school -- another opportunity to meet women and expand your social circle.

Thanks Svensky08. Much appreciated. Those are great ideas.

Any private clubs in Houston good for business networking? I'm in the energy industry but I suspect most everyone is so I'm really looking for a good place to meet and network with other business professionals.

You should check out Montrose, it's more yuppy than hipster these days, especially around the Whole Foods at West Dallas. Plus, some of the best restaurants in town are in Montrose. Uchi, Underbelly, Poscol, Dolce Vita, Hugos, soooo many good places. Check out Hyde Park, there are lots of upscale townhomes in that area that would be walking distance to fun places. Depending on if you are a beer guy or not, Hay Merchant is a great craft beer bar. Also, for singles, Local Pour on a friday or saturday has lots of pretty ladies (so my single guy friend tells me)

If you are more outdoorsy, i would choose Rice Military, closer to Memorial, you can walk to the park with running and bike paths, and still walk to a number of bars and restaurants along Washington. You would be a very short drive to the Heights and to Montrose and Midtown. And downtown is so convenient, you just take Memorial or Allen Pkwy in and you are there in 5 minutes. Rice Military is also mostly upscale townhomes. 3 bedroom and more than 2000 sq feet.
