Hi everyone,

if you would be in the position to have to buy 2 cars (one for yourself and one for your wife) and you won't spend more than 25K + 10K, which cars would you choose?
New or second hands?

I was thinking to: Mazda 5 + ???

I assume you mean $25k and $10k in cash. If you meant financing, I'd drop your budget to whatever you can pay in cash.

Assuming you did mean cash, I'd drop your budget still. Cars are one of the worst investments on this planet. Unless you get some strange thrill from zipping around in your Accord vs. a Corrolla, save yourself the $15k and put it to good use somewhere else.

I'd only buy used, and I'd only buy them after I had it inspected by a reputable mechanic. If I didn't have the family constraints (i.e. something practical for the whole family) I'd get a little Ford Ranger pick-up and a Ford Fiesta / Focus.

Neither would cost more than $10k.

This is a good tip.
I also believe that cars are the worst investment a person can make.

I'll have to finance at least the 70% of the amount I said since I'm also going to have a lot of other expenses...
