All of this rain prompted me to take a look at the US drought monitor site to see where Texas stood compared to last year...

Mother Nature seems to be a bit fairer this year - spreading the dryness more equitably around the US.

Note the chart to the left of Texas. The week of Sep 27, 2011 100% of Texas was at least in a Moderate Drought and almost 86% of the state experienced exceptional drought.

Here's a link to the site if you'd like to poke around a bit...

On last year's map, it appears that the severe cases of drought were focused on Texas and Georgia, and this year Georgia is still seeing the worst drought conditions in the nation.

For Texas, this summer has been so beautiful, compared to last year's. No one's even complaining about the rain.

I am complaining, I could use a few days of sun after this week. However the 80 degree weather needs to stay. Is that to much to ask for? LOL

Remembering some of the cracks last year's drought made on my yard ..this year is truly a blessing. Plants/Shrubs/Trees/Lawn all look much healthier this year.

last time he did that, the whole state caught on fire.

What a difference a year makes. I look at the temps of where I grew up in CenTex and those are the temps I remember enduring in Texas. Not the mess yall got last year. I see lots of highs in the 80s as well next week for Houston. Rain or no rain, I think you'll take that over 104 with 30% humidity of last year.
