We moved into a newly constructed house about a year ago. Our outdoor outlet was working fine for about 2 weeks (Christmas lights) and just today it stopped working. I went to the fuse/breaker box and turned them on and off in the garage and it still doesn't work. Our outlet is sheltered from the weather under a patio and we haven't gotten rain or snow in the last two weeks. I also don't have many Christmas lights plugged into it. What should we do to get it working again?

Maybe the GFCI is bad... most outdoor outlets are of the type that have little reset buttons... it the button repeatedly trips it is most likely a ground fault from what ever is plugged in.

That was it! Thanks Ultrarunner. Found the button in the garage on a little plug in the corner. Boy I have a lot to learn about owning a house...
