My Honda Civic- Why is this crazy thing happening?

2010 Honda Civic. The A/C and heat always worked great! but lately, when I pushed the 'face' air vent button, the air will just come out of the 'foot' vents, until I've driven at least 10-15 minutes, then the air will blow out of the 'face' vent! Is my car possessed? What could be causing this? PS- I am CLUELESS when it comes to cars.

Are vents manually controlled or is it electronic?


Is there a Sensor that dictates when the vents should open or change?

Manual I guess. I'm not sure about a sensor. I move the position of the vents by hand, but press the button for which vent the air should blow out of (face, face/feet, feet, defrost, etc.)

I think there is a a "door" for lack of the better term in the ducting that directs the airflow to alternative branches in the ducting, and it's position is changed with a little motor. I wonder if something could be making that door stick... then eventually the motor overcomes the friction? Maybe a rat's nest?
