We just bought a resale and stripped wallpaper in one bathroom. What a pain. I will leave the rest of the two bathrooms for the professionals.

Anyway, some of the sheetrock came off with the paper which I have heard is common and can happen. I have heard different stories as to how to correct this. Some say have it replastered and some say put up a wall liner. Was just wondering what everyones take on this is before I start making some phone calls so I know who to hire to fix this.

Thanks.

I'm certainly no expert, but I had a minor case of this problem one time and simply used mud to skim over the affected areas a couple times and then sanded it down. Seemed ok to me. I guess it may depend on how bad it was.... I am interested to hear other peoples opinions.

Also, I should mention, if the holes are really bad you should probably use tape along with the mud when fixing them. to prevent any problems with moisture or cracking.

here is my take...wall liner is good if installed correctly (hangs horizontal, need 2 people) then repaper the walls. If the sheet rock is not "destroyed" and is only gone from small areas use a sharp blade to cut off the loose paper areas, coat with a product called gardz (spelling maybe wrong) this seals the rock and prevents more damage and then follow with a couple lite skim coats of fast drying sheet rock mud, then sand, prime and paint.
