I am looking for ideas on window treatments for the below window. We were thinking of doing drapes. Thinking about two options:

1. Four panels of about 27 inches each. One center rod that covers the middle window and then two more rods: one for each of the side windows.

2. Only one rod with two wide panels.

We spoke with someone at Pottery Barn who recommended four panels but others have recommended two. These will be used a lot as we will open and close them in the morning and at night. Any ideas would be very appreciated!

Thanks

Beautiful window! Would it get too hot to leave at least the middle one with no coverings? (You didn't say where you are or what the exposure is for that room so I don't know if you get a lot of sun in that room?)

or option 3: one rod, four panels.

My question is the same as Karen's... can you leave the center uncovered? It looks as though the window is NOT to the outside but to another room.

Yes, we could leave it uncovered. The room faces east into an enclosed front porch, so the light isn't an issue. Our main concerns are privacy and aesthetics, but maybe it looks better without any treatments.

I think I'd leave it uncovered, closing the blinds on the sunporch in the evening for privacy.

Four fabric panels is way too much drapery for that window. I wonder if employees at Pottery Barn work on commission?

The wood work around the windows and stained glass are beautiful. I wouldn't distract from the beauty with rods and drapes.

Looking at the photo, it appears to be a dark room?? Can you do an inside mount on your windows?Levolor makes a beautiful light filtering translucent shade (like sheers), in creams and white that lower top to bottom, resting on the window sill. The stained glass never has to be covered up, but, that options still there. Check their websites.

If that were my window, it would remain uncovered.

I agree, I'd do blinds or window treatments in what looks to be a sunroom/ enclosed porch for privacy.

Thank you all for the great advice; we are going to leave the window uncovered since we have blinds in the front porch/ sun room already.

While the window looks nice bare, another thought would be a fancy wooden curtain rod, or metal (your choice, obviously) and just one pinched pleat panel on either side, (but fairly thin), and with tie backs...so it takes the starkness away. That way you get the warmth of a curtain, and yet the view of the stained glass as well. Plus you have the blinds in the sun room for the privacy issue. So maybe something to think about.

It really is a pretty window.
