I have a long living room with a attatched kitchen and counter top. I have been living in this home for 4 years and I have yet to find a comfortable arrangement, thats where you come in for help! I want my fireplace and TV to be a subtle focal point yet be able to comfortably converse with others in the room. I am looing for an arrangement, feel free to tell to me toss or add anything! I am more then willing to post pictures of the progress. Thanks so much in advance!

I can not get the uploader here to work so I posted the pictures on photobucket.

Your problem is that you have too much furniture in that room.

You need to move the furniture away from the counter. It looks aweful to have your future arranged against the counter wall.

Leave your sofa where it's located. Move your love seat over to form an L shape with the sofa so the love seat is facing the fireplace wall directly.

Get rid of the blue and maroon chairs because there is absolutely not enough rooom for them.

Thank you so much for helping my link and also your advice! I feel worried there is not enough sitting space with just the couch and loveseat...What about the bookcase and other stuff?

Much better!

You can slide the loveseat a little more forward so there is more space when walking into the room.

You can move the bar stool back over with the other bar stool on the wood floor. You don't need to fill that counter space wall. It's better if you leave it without anything there.

As for there not being anough seating space, it is what it is. Your room can only hold a certain amount of furniture. With the sofa and loveseat, you achieve the most seating----5 people. If you have other guests, they can sit on the bar stools or around the table.

Less is more!

Looks much better. When you place sofas at 90 degree angles, the arms should be parallel to each other and 6" apart at a 45 degree angle. (Draw an imaginary 45 degree angle between each arm that is 6" apart.) This will give you good spacing for people sitting on each sofa.

You can pull back in one of those wing chairs. Place it at a 45 degree angle facing the sofa's on the left corner of the carpet near the fireplace. Make sure your remotes will work when you do this though. You should have 36" of clear walking space to the door and dining table around the chair. If you don't, then you probably want to re purpose it in another room.
