We are looking at a move in the next year or so, with our 3 small school age children. We are very intersted in Hershey, and would really like to benefit from the perks of the area, without paying too much - it seems like real estate is pretty pricy there in town. (Gee, maybe other people feel the same way??!

What would be the closest area where we might find a 4 bedroom newer (less than 10 years old) home for less than $250,000 where we would still be in the Hershey area school district? Is that possible or are we dreaming? Right now, we are just 3 miles from the edge of a city with a population of 65,000 or so, and would like that same situation - "in" the country, but minutes from everything we need. We've been in Europe for 10 years, and are looking for classy, forward-thinking and safe but not overpriced or too big. I'm also a nurse and looking at going back to work in a few years, so the medical center interests me.

Thanks!
PS I'm seeing lots of Italian restaurant names - is there a noticable Italian or German influence?

I would look into Hummelstown as well. Hummelstown is the town next to Hershey, rated one of the best towns in the country. Lots of nice neighborhoods and new developments going up.

Not sure about an Italian influence although chocolate is very popular in the area.

Hershey is expensive and it's the preppie capitol of PA. The town is/was in denial over teenage drinking and drug abuse. It was a huge deal when a drinking party got raided because it was so shocking to the local residents.

Hershey is very nice although not the preppie capital of PA. That would be the main line area of Philly (ie Villanova area, etc.)

I hear the kids in Hershey were getting high on chocolate...

I'm familiar with the Main Line as well. The T/E school dictrict is far better than Derry Township, and less pretentious.
