One of our favorite things to do in san diego is set up the pop up tent camper hang out at fiesta island and start a bonfire when it gets chilly, then wait for the sea world fireworks. Are there any beaches that accommodate any of those things in the area?

I can only comment on the City of Virginia Beach where it is illegal to camp on the beach and it is also illegal to have an open fire on the beach. Basically, if it is fun, it's illegal.

The closest place now is probably Hatteras Island, NC. Here's a link to the rules now.

Its not camping on the beach but Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry has a bonfire on the beach in celebration of Independence Day! You can observe fireworks from several nearby locations along the banks of the James River.

You can camp nearby within the park Chippokes Plantation State Park

Park at the Visitors Center or the River House Parking Lot and walk a short distance down College Run trail, for easy access to the location of the bonfire. It will be on the 'Visitor Center Side' of the footbridge on College Run Creek Trail.

For comfort, bring chair/blanket, drinking water, and family friendly games to share. While minimum lighting will be available along the trail, a flashlight is recommended. Marshmallows will be provided for roasting!

The Bonfire will be lit at 9:00 p.m., fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m
