My husband and I will be moving to Winston-Salem in about 6 months. We never expected to be needing a rental again after our current place because we were planning on buying, but with DH's company moving we find ourselves looking for a rental house that will take our 4 pets: 3 dogs, all under 40lbs (two cattle dog mixes and a corgi mix), and a cat.
The dogs all have references and have attended training classes; two are even registered as therapy animals. Our dogs and cat are all indoor pets. All animals are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines and other health care.
We will be looking for a 3bd, 2ba single family home, ideally with a fenced yard, in a quiet, safe neighborhood (I walk the dogs regularly where we currently live and don't want to worry about crime or high traffic).
Does anyone have any recommendations for rental agencies that might be open to renting to a couple with pets like ours and who would have properties that would meet our needs?
Yea I'm already keeping an eye on craigslist, rentals.com, and similar - I was hoping for some more personal referrals for local management companies to check out.
We have a great landlord/rental company right now who has been VERY easy to work with in general, but especially relaxed and understanding with our pets and I'd like to find another great person or company to work with if at all possible since it makes the whole rental situation much better ime.
I tried finding one a few months back when I moved down here and couldn't find one. It seems most rent them themselves. Found mine on Craigslist. Try going on line and looking up the local newspaper and search the classified ads
We have a house that fits your description but we want to sell! Are you moving to Winston-Salem for a short timeframe or just don't want to buy until you're here?
Right now we are hesitant to buy until we get to know the area better. That being said, we are not completely dismissing buying and one of my friends here is a native to W-S so she will help us feel more confident about buying in the area if we decide to go that route. Feel free to PM me more info on your place trese.
I too am a native and can give you advice on bad and good neighborhoods! I sent you a PM!
