Perhaps this isn't the correct board, but if so the moderators will direct it.

I would like to start a thread about ways to make extra cash, in addition to our regular jobs.

For me, I have a whor-at-home job I make about $10/hour

Also, I do online surveys, make $30-40/month.

I've sold stuff on Ebay, not recently, the most I made was $300 last Christmas.

Just had a garage sale, made about $400

My dh just started a consulting business, in addition to his FT job

So, other ideas? Its always good to have more than one egg in your basket!

Newspaper route, deliver pizza's in the evening, work at taco bell on the weekends, have a large garden in the backyard and then sell vegetable on the side of the highway. Those are a few that i have considered and/or done.

Put a notice on supermarket bulletin board that you'll do errands and handyman work. Make ten bucks driving a little old lady to the grocery store, or changing her light bulb.

you won't help little old men? LOL

I coupon, groceries are nearly free in this house - it isn't "making" money per se, but if you don't spend it, it's the same - extra cash for extra stuff.

I'm presuming that the reason you are 'frugal' is because your time is more valuable to you than the money you could earn in that time. You reduce your costs in order to not have to work overtime or a second job to make do. In which case, working for money is antithetical to frugal lifestyle.

If you just saved $20 by frugal effort, you have obviated the need to spend an hour of your life earning that $20, so then, why go out and spend an hour of your life to earn the same $20? Consider the money you have saved to be the wages for the time and effort saving it, and that's more than you can get paid for a casual job utilizing the same time and effort. Who will pay you $100 in wages for the equivalent effort of walking across the street to look for a cheaper TV?

Overtime pays over $100/hr so it's just better for me to work more.

I also find the more I work the less time I have at home to spend money.

I hope that's a typo. Otherwise, you're not charging enough!

LOL!
Thought the same thing!

First time I've seen someone advocating "a whor-at-home job" on these boards.

Donate plasma. At the center near me, they have new donor promotions--$50 each for your first 5 donations. Considering you can go twice a week, that's a good chunk of change!

Become a ChaCha guide. I started 2 weeks ago and I've made $130. I do it from home outside of my regular 40-hours-a-week job. It's not going to pay my mortgage, but an extra few hundred bucks a month will really come in handy!

In the new American economy, "whor" and "work" are synonymous. You sell yourself for money, and do whatever you're told by the person who pays you.
