Relocating to Fort Worth for a new job (Dallas, Southlake: apartments, condos)

I am moving to Fort Worth for a new job. I am a 25 year old male. What areas should I look for apartments/condos and what areas should I avoid? What is the average cost of 1-2 bedroom apartment and what are average utility costs? Also, what cable/INternet providers do must people use and what is the best for the price and quality?Also, what is the entertainment like in Fort Worth as far as resteraunts, bars, shopping, etc? I am moving from Ohio, so what are the best high school football teams in the area? Any other infomration would be great.

Where exactly is your job? That helps narrow down the choices.

The greatest high school football program in the entire Nation is located in Southlake, Tx., near Ft. Worth. Eight time State Champion.

My job is at Regency Hospital.

Regency is in SW Fort Worth. There are many apartments nearby in the Hulen area. If you are willing to drive a little, the West 7th and Montgomery Plaza areas are also great, but will be more expensive. Most complexes provide basic cable and you can buy additional channels if you wish. Utility costs vary greatly in apartments. Some include water bill paid.

That neighborhood is Hulen Mall area. I was just down there today. Lots of activity, several gyms, etc. it's about 15-20 minutes to downtown.

What's traffic like in Fort Worth, especially during rush hour? Also, what is the night life life for a 25 year old?

I have kids your age, and they think the nightlife in FW is great. You will want to go to the Montgomery Plaza, So 7 area for the good bars and restaurants. That's also where the food trailer area is.

If you choose to live in the Hulen Mall area, there are also good restaurants down there, movie theaters, mall, shopping. Probably where you'd want to go for a week night meal or drink, but not for a weekend of fun.

If you live in FW proper and work there also, you can pretty much get anywhere in 20 min. max. The Hwy. 121 construction has really messed things up, but that changes practically daily. You'll just have to figure that out. I think you'll find FW is a really easy city to get around in. Good luck!

What part of OH are you coming from? I used to travel the state frequently for a job.

I lived in the Dallas area and traffic was an absoluate PAIN so to me, FW is not that bad, at least in my opinion, however, there is construction in the Hulen/Byrant Irvin/I-20 area due to a toll road and it will be a mess for a few years. FW is growing and along with that means more peeps and more traffic.

I lived in FW in college and for a few years after college and things have changed since then but as someone mentioned, the hospital is in the southwest FW area and there are LOTS of apts in the area, as well as shopping, Target, restaurants, 24 HR Fitness, the mall, etc. The area is a little sterilized to me but you would be very close to work.

If you are looking for a little more hip area and nightlife, I would suggest looking more north, either the Montgomery Plaza/West 7th area/downtown. There is a Target, some shopping and lots of restaurants/bars there. It will be more expensive but if it has the amenities you want, then that might be a good area for you. Hulen St. between I-20 and I-30 might be another option but you can run into TCU students in alot of the apts in that area but you would be about halfway between your work and most of the nightlife and downtown. The great thing about FW, it that it doesn't take that long to get anywhere if there isn't traffic, about 20 minutes or so. Good luck!

I live in Northwest Ohio. Fremont to be exact. If you have heard of Cedar Point, I live 20 miles West of there and 40 miles South of Toledo.

Are there areas of FW that I would want to aviod as far as crime and etc?
