Despite all the advertising, any of the Honda brands and any of the Toyota brands (Toyota, Lexus, Scion) are head and shoulders above any of the Detroit 3.
Used to.
*shrug*
The data is out there for which brands' quality stands where.
I've owned 52 cars/trucks/suvs of varying make and model. I've driven 75-100 other vehicles of varying make and model.
I've owned over 130 car and trucks over the last 38 years, from most major manufacturers on the planet, and driven hundreds of others on the street and track. And I'm going to disagree with you. My Fords have been great, especially the '96 Ranger Splash, the '99 SVT Contour and the '06 Mustang GT. All flawless vehcils that never needed anything but routine oil changes over the years I owned each of them.
Fords are commanding a premium now for a couple reasons, one is, that they are simply that much better than they ever were. They also ditched Mercury and have moved the upper trim levels of Ford cars into what was previously Mercury and base Lincoln territory. It's working as they are selling like crazy.
Ford licensed technology from Toyota to avoid patent disputes. The CVT in the hybrid comes from Aisin, a Toyota owned company, but it is not a Toyota transmission. And the gasoline engine is a Ford engine, not a Toyota engine. The batteries come from Sanyo, who makes batteries for anyone, and is not a Toyota company.

I'm guessing the phrase "quality over quantity" doesn't hold much weight with you. Thanks for taking the time to count them all up for us though.
Ford never "used" Toyota hybrid technology. They have always independently developed their own Hybrid system. In 2004 when they finished their system they noticed that it used some key ideas which were patented by Toyota at the time. Instead of fighting them in court they just decided to license 21 of the patents and avoid a lengthy court battle.
And if it helps, Toyota is currently using Ford emissions technology in some of their vehicles

I can't own them all at once, so I own them sequentially. I've listed them in other threads. Porsche's, Cadillacs, BMWs, etc. so i dont' know what your ****ing rolleyes is all about. I like all kinds of cars, and am not narrowminded like so many are. I've had more than my fair share of quality cars, but I'm not going to keep all of them forever, including cars I've built just for me. Like my V8 RX7 or my hot rods.

You have had incredible luck. Since we are talking "over the last 38 years", one fleet of Ford Tauruses had 15 out of 45 have a blown transmission in 60k miles. My personal Mercury Topaz had a bad transmission ar 40k.
My wife has lost the use of her company car no less than NINE days over the past three years. Eight of the lost days were due to various brake issues in a 2010 Ford Taurus (under 40k miles) and a recall on her new 2013 Ford Fusion.
I have not had more than one lost day on any vehicle in my 15 car corporate fleet which consists of Chrysler/Ram products.
Ford, like usual, is more interested in putting in all of the fancy high-tech bells and whistles than in building RELIABLE cars.
