I like to shop for groceries, home improvement items and office supplies and don't really enjoy any of it besides the groceries which has actually become a chore since my husband's diabetes diagnosis. Otherwise no shopping unless it is absolutely necessary then I put it off as long as possible.

The concept of Fashion and trends eludes me utterly. I wear what I find attractive and what is comfortable for ME. What some overpaid fashionista thinks has no bearing whatsoever on my choices. This "season" and "last season" to me relate to actual seasons not trends.

I find shopping the most boring, tedious and vapid of past-times. I am a terrible consumer as I hardly ever buy anything and when I do a lot of the time I will buy second hand ( C-Ds, books, electronics, DVDs etc...) as I don't see why I need to have new stuff when second hand is perfectly fine , cheaper and greener. Clothes wise I do try to buy fair trade and environmentally friendly stuff when I can and that limits my options anyway which is a good thing.

I was forced to spend a day shopping recently with the wife of one of my Husband's colleagues and I wanted to chew my own foot off after about half an hour. She loved it and apparently goes shopping every single day. I can't even imagine how anyone could do that. A bookshop I can spend hours in ( reading in a comfy armchair usually) but clothes shopping ? Heck no. Almost anything would be more pleasant and interesting.

My ideal would be to find a few pieces which would last forever and never have to shop ever again. Internet shopping has made things easier but even that is painful truth be told.

My idea of heaven is NOT having to shop. Go the the Museum, Art Gallery, Theatre, Opera, Cinema, Concerts, etc... but shopping would be somewhere between a root canal and plastic surgery ( pretty much the bottom of the list basically...). Most men I know love this abnormal and aberrant behaviour in me though, my Husband thanks his lucky star that I have not got one shopaholic bone in my entire body ! He hates shopping almost as much as I do.
Do you see the irony that you're posting in a Fashion & Beauty Forum. And you have the longest post to boot! (like my play on words? )

The Irony is not lost on me believe me ! I am one of those weirdoes who simply has to understand things, and I am hoping I might come to grasp the attraction of retail "therapy" if I frequent this forum on occasions.

I figure Billions of people love it, I loathe it so there has to be more to it than something which bores me silly... I suppose I am very curious by nature and seek answers ! None to be found so far sadly, the quest continues...

To be fair though I am not alone it seems with other posters sharing their dislike of shopping on this thread too !

I'm a shopping addict , I just love shopping, even today between 2 classes I went to buy some leggings and shirts, I was also going to buy slippers but then I would have been late to class .

I prefer to shop in stores because online you can't always tell if something is going to suit you well, so I'd rather try

I don't know if I have the right to post stores link but I just fell in love with a blazer from Mango ♥

I don't mind grocery shopping though.

I love to shop but don't like to accumulate because things go out of style so quickly and it is easy to overspend and end up with too much stuff and nothing you really love.

It's situational...

Shopping in clothing, craft, home decor, or book stores, when I actually have time to browse? SURE
Shopping for work clothes because the job requires polo shirts and khakis, neither of which I would have purchased if not for said job? NO

Shopping for a Christmas present for someone whose tastes I'm familiar with and anticipating the look on their face when they get something I know they'll love? GOOD
Shopping for a coworker whose name I pulled out of a hat for secret Santa (and don't know anything about)? SUCKS

Maybe I just don't like shopping under pressure.

I'm not into shopping at all - and I'm a minimalist. Not a fan of collecting stuff, junk, clutter, or material things unless I really need them .... Also, I hate debt. If I can't pay cash, I don't want it ... No credit card debt !

I like shopping only if I'm in the mood for it. One of my favorite places is Goodwill, you can find so much stuff there for so cheap. I found a set of dishes that weren't even used - still wrapped in the box, etc - for really cheap. I get some nice shirts there from brand name companies too. I could spend hours in there. However another favorite place is Kohls' and Old Navy - could also spend forever in there. I like searching for clearance items I'm cheap and proud of it! haha.
