It's around springtime now at least where I am. Just curious as to the typical person who wear flip flops. Do most people replace an old pair around once a year or so?
I have been known to keep shoes so long that dh has given me the stink-eye if I even move toward putting them on. It's hard finding shoes I really like so when I do, I get attached!
I had a pair suede flip flops that I owned and wore for three years. I let the shoes (or the stink-eye) let me know when it's time.
I replace mine when they start looking ratty, which is usually after the season is over (flip flop season here is March through November). Some last longer because I don't wear them as often and some styles don't even last the season. I will usually buy a duplicate pair if I really like them at the original time of purchase.
I do wash them often to keep them looking fresh and to rid of the toe prints on them. A little soap, water, a scrub brush and a dry in the sun works well.
As long as they hold up. I have a pair that is at least 6 years old, because they're infrequently worn, and because they have more sturdy, rubber or leather footbeds, not the foam-rubbery type. The basic, cheap-o, foam rubber footbed type don't typically last me a whole season and still look nice if I wear them with any frequency, but there are other, more substantially-made ones.
I have more than one pair, so i dont constantly wear the same one and they arent wearing as fast. I dont work anymore and i hate shoes, so i wear flip-flops A LOT.
The way they look and fit tell me whether it's time to chuck them or not I voted 'more than a year.'
I own several pairs of Coach, and several pairs of Tory Burch flip flops, they are quality and not disposable....hey I live in FL!
So since I own at least half a dozen pairs of flipflops I don't wear them out too often...
I still have a pair of Nike sandal/flip flops from about '94. I don't wear them much and the glue is starting to give way even though they look almost new! LOL I guess I better get a new pair! LOL
