I'm in GM parts, and I can tell you things must change or Saturn owners are screwed - Saturn and Saab are separate brands from the rest of GM (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Olds (parts still available) and Pontiac parts are available at any GM dealer - but Saturn parts must come from a dedicated Saturn franchise. (At this point and time) if they close, there is no stream for parts.
It will have to be opened up to the rest of us. May sound boring, but it's a big deal.

Well, federal law says that the auto manufacturer must have a parts stash for 10 years after a vehicle is made, so what's the fuss? GM will have to take care of that, no ifs, ands, or buts until about 2019.
I guess if my aunt ever decides to drive her Ion, it might matter.

I was going to say that too (about federal law) and I hope so, as I have two Saturn vehicles. I'm not worried about the 2005 Relay, as it's essentially a Chevy Uplander and thus I imagine does not have "unique" parts, but the other one is a 2002 Saturn LW300 wagon, which I think does not have an "equivalent" in what I'll call "regular GM". I was actually planning to sell the wagon (since it's completely "paid up"), but I doubt I'll get anything for it now......

Negative - that's a rumor.
There are many examples of parts on 2003-2004 models (for example) that GM has discontinued. I looked up a door trim panel today on a 2003 Denali that was gone bye-bye. There's many factors that go into it, but supply and demand, vender and material contracts, etc. can all play a role in it.

That sucks. I like the Saturn brand. My family had has three Saturn's. 2 SC and 1 ion. All of them ran great with very few problems.
Oh well.......................?????? Hey! You know what funny about the whole thing? Saturn was the brand that GM was going to roll out the first fully electric car. The car ran pretty well and actually really look like a good commuter car at the time. But GM killed it be cause SUVs made more money. Of course we know what has happen to the market for SUVs and we also know what happen to GM for there foolish decision to but all their eggs in one basket with those gas guzzlers. Hmmmm. I wonder if this ending of the Saturn brand will also be the the beginning of the end of GM be a major player in the auto market. Probably not. But I know I probably never buy any other GM product if I can't have a Saturn.
Saturn was supposed to be a entirely separate entity from GM - and not run like GM was run... a new kind of car company... well they GMed it up for sure. You knew they would get their mitts on it.
I thought that was pretty ironic considering the recent commercials with the CEO saying "I hear all these pundits saying how American car companies can't make a car Americans will buy. Americans will buy Saturns."
