Very vague announcement. But they did say that the plan would include oversight, homeowner protection and something to address executive compensation.

Conspicuously absent?

HOW MUCH ARE THEY GOING TO PAY-- There was no mention of whether they'd pay the requested "hold-to-maturity" phantom values or current market values. There was also no mention of whether the government would get a stake in the companies we bail out.

This is like announcing that I've agreed to buy a house because the builder will throw in granite counter tops and fancy appliances AS LONG AS I PAY FULL ASKING PRICE-- WHICH IS AS YET UNNAMED.

Financial bread and circuses.
