Hi All,
Just looking for advise on puppy training. I've got a GSD pup and she is in need of some good puppy classes. Does anyone has any experience with Bark Busters? Or if anyone is in Fairfield County, CT and can recommend a good dog training, I will be grateful.
TIA!
Take a look at the website of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and do a search for a trainer in your area. Interview several, make sure they use ONLY positive methods (no 'corrections,' no yanking on the leash, no pushing the dog into position and absolutely NO alpha roll!) and make sure you're comfortable with the methods they use. Here's the link: Dog Trainer Search
Many trainers organize classes when they have several dogs for training.
I used Bark Busters for one of my dogs and was very happy with them. The first session was 2.5 hrs at my house and I had several follow-ups. They guarantee the training for the dog's life and will come back out to work on any new problesm.
I also highly recommend "The Other End of the Leash" by Ptricia McConnell.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I will look into the clubs in my area and check out the link. I need a trainer ASAP!-this GSD is too smart for me.
Yesterday, she stole a banana from the table. Bad I know but she looked sooo darn cute sitting on the floor with the banana between her paws trying to eat it!
SouthernBelleInUtah: Would you mind describing a bit what methods they used and if you see a difference after the first visit? Bark Busters is a bit expensive and I want to make sure it would work.
