I know this is resurrecting an old thread but I'm glad the OP liked Des Moines. DS went to Drake and stayed after he graduated- very good jobs in the insurance sector, LCOL, a place where you can still raise a family on one income, reasonable commutes. I love the Saturday Farmer's Market! I had to laugh at my 5-year old granddaughter (used to Des Moines) when I took her to Chicago- she was very surprised at how long it took us to get from the airport to downtown. Welcome to the Big City, kid!

Oh, really? That's sure interesting.

I was sure your "MLDNE" stood for Millard, NE, which is part of Omaha.

Do you mind sharing what town in Central Nebraska fits those letters? I can only think of Milford, NE, but that's near Lincoln, and that's not Central Nebraska -- plus, the 'f' is so strong, people would likely use "mlfdne" for an alias if they were from there.

OR, is your first name Mildred? Oh, I bet that's it!

By the way, do you miss Des Moines? What parts do you miss most about it? Please share.
