Hello everyone , I'm new to this site so please bare with me..first let me explain my situation. Currently living in South jersey with boyfriend & our 1 yr old. The Boyfriend recently got a job in Baltimore, MD. I feel like the 2 1/2 hour drive is too far from our family here in NJ So we are considering DE...I figure its kind of a middle point, only thing is I hear Wilmington isn't the best area for us? Any advice? Thank you

South Jersey is pretty vague...where in southern NJ do you currently live? Generally speaking I would say that Elkton, MD is sort of in the middle yet still far from Baltimore...at least an hour.

Agreed . . . my husband commuted from Baltimore to Elkton for two months before we moved to Newark. It was a little over an hour each way, and that was with a reverse commute. Not fun!

Marlton NJ. Sorry my post was vague..typing in a rush but I feel an hour or hour&a half is better than family being that far. I don't think my boyfriend is going to enjoy the commute either though. This move is a big deal & I'd hate to rush it so I figured as much information & knowledge I can get will help me make the best decision. The grandparents are very concerned with the crime/drug & "bad areas". Again thank you for your answers. Any advice is helpful

Why not move closer to Baltimore and let the grandparents visit. The long commute gets old real soon and it probably, imo, is more important for the three of you, since you are a family, to spend more time together than worrying about a mid-point. Like I said, just my opinion.

Just because your boyfriend is going to be working in Baltimore doesn't mean you need to live in Baltimore. While moving away can be scary, I can't imagine asking a partner to do a very long commute through traffic five days a week just to be closer to family. Instead, I would look for a place on the outskirts of Baltimore and get an extra bedroom for family to visit you and stay overnight. A quick look on the map shows a little town called Kingsville just Northeast of Baltimore that looks nice and is a 30 minute commute to the center of Baltimore. Kingsville, Maryland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My husband did an hour commute each way several years ago when he changed jobs and we couldn't sell our house. It was horrible, especially in the winter when he would leave in the dark and come home in the dark. If there were public transportation, maybe then it would be do-able. I too would suggest looking more into Maryland.
