North Dallas (Austin, University Park, Highland Park: neighborhood, high schools, university)

Where does North Dallas begin?

North of downtown?
North of Lemmon?
North of Mockingbird lane?
North of Loop 12?
North of 635(LBJ)?

Just curious.

Well remember where North Dallas High School is located

I had a 'friend' from North Dallas say that everything south of Northwest Highway is South Dallas.

now that is a first - don't let the blue blood hear that, or they'll douse you with their lattes. My thought is that "North Dallas" starts directly north of the Park Cities. It was more rhetorical in this forum, as I posted in the Austin Forum and got a surprisingly confused response:

Well I think he was directing it at us Lakewood folks...although this guy and some around that neighborhood of his I am sure thought they were better than the Park Cities folks.

This is why is stay far away from those areas if possible! Unfortunately my 'final resting place' is to be Hillcrest Cemetery (no more room at Cox Cemetery).

To me North Dallas is north of Loop 12/Northwest Hwy and Far North Dallas starts at 635.

I've always said that north of the Northwest Highway is Oklahoma border.

I don't think of Highland Park or University Park as being North Dallas because they aren't in Dallas. I don't think of North Dallas High School as being North Dallas because it's Uptown.

Uptown, way back in the day, WAS North Dallas, but it's no longer.

I consider North Dallas to be the area between Marsh, Northwest Highway (I think a lot of the areas south of Northwest Highway but North of Lemmon are part of North Dallas, but only when they're actually in Dallas, and I don't think of the area around Love Field as being North Dallas), 75,
and 635.

Roughly the areas served by Thomas Jefferson, WT White, and Hillcrest high schools, excluding the southern parts of those districts.

Agreed, north Dallas starts north of Loop 12 and far north Dallas starts north of 635. Everyone knows that!
