I will am moving to Allen this weekend. I need to choose an electric company, but there are so many choices on PowertoChoose.org that I just don't know where to begin in finding one. I have heard many horror stories of Reliant messing people's bills up. And I have heard that TXU charges a deposit of $300. The person that lived in the house before me used Oncor, so I will be calling them for infomation today. I am just looking for a good electric company that won't mess up my bill and that doesn't have a deposit (or a high deposit) and that charges a decent amount for energy. A fixed plan would be fine. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Oncor distributes the power. TXU Energy is a retailer. You can sign up for service with a retailer. Just check out the powertochoose website and look for the lowest fixed rate(12 months if u can). Be sure to make note of when your contract expires and renew before it expires. I have only tried Gexa and Champion besides TXU. Gexa didn't mess up my bill. Champion I just started with.

FYI, deposits depend on your credit in most cases. TXU and others will not charge you a deposit if your credit is good.

Thanks for the info! I ended up calling TXU and they said I required no deposit so that's good. I got their fixed rate 2-year plan. Thanks for the info!

Did you ask TXU about their FREE Electric program? Oh they don't have one.

Well I found the best deal ever, FREE Electricity from my electricity provider's bill credit program. I don't know if I can name the company without it being seen as a commerical ad, there are here RULES you know. Well I just renewed at fixed rate of 12.6 for 1 yr. On my last bill used 2786 Kwh it was 351.04 and my monthly bill credit was 274.61 making my final payment only 76.43 or .027 per Kwh. This month hopefully will be for the fulll amount of my bill since I golfing in So. cal for a week. So you could say my rate is 0.00 LOL I'll be getting a bill credit every month and for years to come, you can too its not to late to cancel TXU.

Your short game its what counts!
