We are retirement age and considering moving to the Dallas area to be near our daughter and her family who live in Allen. She has suggested Wylie might be more like what we are used to here in the Des Moines, IA area. Would we be out of place there? Is there a certain area of the city where retirees live? Thanks for your advice.

Wylie is a laid back community... it's on the verge of country but still close to all of the action. Murphy is right next door and is exploding with growth, so in addition to all of the shopping that Wylie has, you'll have a Super Target, Sprouts (nice fresh produce), a new movie theater, and some restaurants.

What types of activities do you enjoy?

it's a smaller suburb that has really started to take off in the last 5 years. It's near Lake Lavon, the water supply much of the area. Like many of the suburbs that have experienced recent growth there are a lot of young families with children. I can't say there is a particular area of town for older folks.

The main road in and out of town, 78 can get a bit congested, but its bearable.

Wylie was hit by a pretty powerful tornado back in 1994.

Heritage Ranch in Fairview Texas is very close to Plano and has a wonderful golf course and club house.
