We don't talk about Ingleside much but with the base project about to bring 600 jobs there its something someone should consider. The schools are pretty good -although there was a coding error in the current rating. Its always had low crime and the location is nice.

There are some great tracts of land that would make great developments (not wetlands they need protection) but not many people have money in this economy. Even Rockport has gotten pretty cheap.

Its not a coincidence when prices get cheaper and bargains loom, few have the cash to take advantage.

ocean2026,

I'm having a little trouble with your last posts... Ingleside Naval Mine Warfare Station is closing, all those folks stationed there are leaving within a few months. All of those houses they bought are going for fire sale prices,,, or worse, foreclosure, and you think this is a good thing???

I have a few bucks on hand,,, but I'd never invest in a expiring town. It will be years before Ingleside recovers. If it ever does.

Ingleside will become just another Texas ghost town before long.

Do you read the paper or watch the news jbtx? Ingleside is far from being a ghost town. Yes, the base is leaving but Texas A&M System is taking it over and have several major companies lined up to replace it. They are expected to make a major announcement (some 600 jobs) before the end of the year with more expected in 2010. Tenants are expected to include research & development, biotech, green energy development firms, manufacturing, medical, higher learning. The base is definitely a loss but Ingleside is poised to come out of this much better off with A&M's resources at the helm. This plus the Chinese pipe company down the road investing $1 billion and the La Quinta cargo terminal. Ingleside is definitely a place to watch and invest. Anyone who think differently is sorely mistaken.

Well obviously I agree with BB54- we knew they were having the base closure for years and the town is already moving on. 600 direct jobs may mean 2400 people. Support jobs will follow.
