My son's first job upon graduation in the spring, will be in the Camden, SC area. As he will be on his own and only have a week or two to look for a place, can anyone suggest safe, affordable complexes with entertainment and restaurant close by?

He should live in northeast columbia and commute. Or even downtown columbia, even better. Don't live in Camden.

Camden is a nice little town, but it's small and quiet. Few recent college grads I have ever known would want to live there unless they were from there originally.

He needs to live in the NE section of Columbia. I don't know of any specific complexes but look in and around the Sandhill Shopping Center area. This is just a 20 minute commute to Camden and he'll be with more people his own age and experiences. Camden is a neat little town. But just not much of a young/educated person community. Once he gets to his 30's and has a family, he may fit in a little more.

The Sandhill area is one of the newer, fast growing, and safer areas around here. He cannot go wrong living in that area. Would be about 15 miles to Camden and still the urban Columbia area.

Camden is quite safe but it could be a bit boring for a younger, single person plus the British spent some cold nights there...local history......LOL

Defintely in NE Columbia. There are apts located in the Village at Sandhills, in Wildewood neighborhood (close to I77 & I20), in Woodcreek Farms and Greenhill Parish neighborhoods (both very close to I20), in and around Lake Carolina, and many more. All of those apts are close to restaurants and shopping. When I first moved to Columbia, I initially lived in an apt. I looked at apts all over Columbia. Personally, I think NE Cola has some of the larger, higher quality apts.

Apts in (and around) downtown Columbia could be an option. However, that is about a 45 minute commute to Camden.

I grew up in Camden and still have lots of friends and family there. Since he will be working in Camden he may still prefer to live in Camden and travel to Columbia on the weekends. This is a newer apartment complex just off I-20 that will would allow him easy access to both Camden and Columbia. Fox Run Apartments | Apartments in Camden, SC

Even if I worked in Camden , I would still live in downtown cola. I have always said I always want to be where I play not where I work, if I had to choose between the two.
