It seems as if fireplaces are much more common out here in Colorado than back east. Here I have a Lennox gas fireplace. When I bought the house the glass was all cloudy, but the previous owner had it thoroughly cleaned and it looked great. Now after about 3 mornings when I turned the fireplace on for an hour or so just to take the chill off, the glass is already beginning to cloud up again.

It is normal. One thing we learned is not to clean the glass with anything that contains ammonia - like Windex. (Ammonia based cleaners can cause a milky white haze to be baked on the glass). We use vinegar and water and wipe it with a newspaper. It stays clean much longer but it still gets a little hazy after a few uses.
