You could check the crime statisics on city-data.com itself at
https://www.city-data.com/city/Plymou...-Carolina.html Plymouth has a rate much higher than the national average crime rate, 611 in 2010 versus 319 for the national average. However, it is a lot of property crime like thefts and burglaries. There were no murders, but a lot of assaults.
Given that the income level in Plymouth is significantly less than the rest of the state, I would say that contributes to the crime rate. If you are doing restoration on a house, you are tempting fate if you leave building material in a house. A lot of copper wire is being stolen from building sites these days.
In addition, the population has been declining. If you want to make a profit from your restoration, you are facing a challenge. If you are doing because you love the property, I wish you the best.
