Like to point out a big part of that is the composition of minorities. The Northeast has a high concentration of the historically persecuted African American and Jewish populations than the west

I will agree that the majority of blacks are not upper class, but I would be surprised if either of those metro's did not have a recognizable upper-class black percentile.

What about Chicago?
DFW and Houston have large growing black upper and middle class populations that will most likely rival or eclipse those in Atlanta and the Northeast/MidAtlantic.

Chicago has a declining black upper/middle class unfortunately. But in the past I would definitely include Chicago as a premier location for the black upper/middle class.

No, it's not just LA.

The data below is based on 2 Criteria from data.census.gov:
1. Median Black Family Income, 2020
2. Black Population, 2020(I only included places with 2,000+ population)

I'm not done with the DC Metro, but that area has 42 places in just Maryland, so I know DC is going to be by far number 1 or number 2(havent done NY either), not to mention Chicago(haven't done)

This was originally created for a West Coast-centric thread hence the inclusion of small CA MSAs but I just added metros in other parts of the country.

You need to define minority. If you're in the minority of Bay Area residents who thinks for themselves, doesn't follow climate/masking/virtue signaling orthodoxy like a sheep, and who prefers thoughtful debate with others over judging others, you might not be accepted here.

what are the black percentages of these California towns? Outside of LA County, are there any continuous upper/middle income black areas?

A couple of things:

1. This thread is about 'acceptance of minorities', not the highest concentration of one particular race.

2. Those California cities for the most part have no racial majority, meaning there is a bit more integration of races.

3. CLEARLY, there are many places in California that have thousands of affluent African American families, that co-exist with other races in places that have no racial majority to begin with.

4. It is noteworthy that the largest AA population on the entire list of places I mentioned was Elk Grove, CA, a suburb of Sacramento, with 25,000 African Americans, which is apparently sizable for wealthy areas.

5. So it's not just LA that has many affluent Black households in California, we see 3 areas that clearly have more AA wealth than the rest:
1. Los Angeles-Orange Counties
2. Oakland-East Bay
3. Inland Empire

I haven't read deep into this topic, but I think the answer depends on how you define minorities and what group of minorities.

Overall, I think the East Coast is more accepting to all groups of minorities with the only major west coast city coming close being Los Angeles. If we're talking Asian's, Hispanics, the West Coast is more acceptable.. otherwise, East Coast.

Not sure how this would compare to Canada or other parts of the US, but I googled "black in portland" and pulled up the first 3 articles consisting of modern-day anecdotes:

https://pamplinmedia.com/scc/482651-...ck-in-portland
Mentions racial slurs used against black man in Portland; 3 people approaching a black woman wearing Klan hoods in Corvallis (small college town)

https://www.opb.org/article/2022/05/...hwest-locales/
Mentions a low "comfort rating" in Portland, though it links to a video that I haven't watched. Also mentions various forms of intimidation and harassment used in Forks, WA against a black family

https://www.wweek.com/culture/2019/0...black-economy/
Mentions a general air of "discomfort" in Portland, whites frequently staring at blacks "like you're going to do something wrong"
