Ive always had a real simple understanding that works for me..feel free to disagree with me..Its just how I think..I think in terms of the soul and spirit of man as being the same..My spirit man wrestles against the flesh..because my spirit/soul belongs to God..and my flesh is corrupt..therefore they are constantly at odds with one another..therefore..the Bible says I must die daily to self/flesh..

My soul, spirit, conscious are all the same, just as my body, flesh and gender are the same.

I totally agree with arguy and blue here. Our soul/spirit is what seeks out God and questions things not understood. Our flesh is corrupt and as Paul said, the spirit battles the flesh daily. The Spirit of the Holy Ghost connects with the spirit of our soul when we ask Jesus into our lives.

The 'soul' is comprised of electrical impulses in our brain.

When that electrical activity stops, our consciousness ceases to exist.

An interesting question:
Someday, science will be able to freeze human beings, so that this electricity stops, effectively killing them.... and then sometime later, they will be able to re-ignite this activity in the frozen body, bringing us back to life. (medicine will likely get here someday... )

So: would this disprove the existence of the soul?

God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into him the spirit of life and BECAME a living soul

The moment humanity becomes (virtually) immortal is the beginning of the end.
Right know those with power (financial & political) will do anything to hold on to this. Imagine if they could do this for all eternity.
With immortality no billionaire would want an heir, there will be no need for offspring. And even when he has children the billionaire probably won't allow anyone else to take over his domain.

Nah, that is just the brain. A brain-dead individual is 'technically' speaking still alive (but the quality of this person's life is probably zero).
I am not my body, if I cut off my hand I’ll still be me.
So I guess the soul is the sum of the physical self (body) and the spiritual self (ego).

I was just checking out some into about "soul" and found this forum.
I do agree with a lot that Dave has to say--it must be the TN connection.

This is my first post. Cool to know this forum is here.
